Betiglue, if memories were clippings

Inspired by nature and the powerful memories of childhood, where the imagination had no limits, Betiglue has been capturing these images on paper, with a wide variety of combinations, which are embodied in colorful collages, full of vitality, strength, freshness and joy.

Hello Beatriz Where were you born? Are you still living there?

I was born in Mallorca, I have been living 10 years away between Sydney, Madrid and London, where I currently reside.

When did you decide to become an artist?

I have always been involved in artistic activities, from painting classes, ceramics to doing my artistic bachelor's degree in London. One day, several years ago, I started making collage in my free time and decided to share it through social networks. It has been a very natural process.

My stage name came up by chance, one day making a play on words, thinking of a stage name, which was both fun and spontaneous, a reflection of my work. This is how Betiglue emerged. Beti because my close friends call me that, and glue which is glue in English. I found it ideal to reflect both my collage technique and my lighthearted and fun personality.

How would you define your style in a sentence?

My work is a reflection of my traveling adventures, my passion for color and nature and my obsession with everything nostalgic.

Your weaknesses? Your strengths?

Strengths, I am loving, passionate and creative. I consider myself a person who likes to have fun and make those around me happy. Arguably quite dreamy. Weaknesses, I am a perfectionist, stubborn (Taurus) and not very realistic. My illusion and my passion are sometimes less realistic than they should be.

What would you say makes you different?

My ability to translate on paper. My infinite imagination and my curiosity.

Do you have a new project or idea in hand?

I am currently in a collaboration with a hotel in Mallorca, where my work will be present in each of its 114 rooms. Specifically, the available series will be made this summer on the island, influenced by its incredible beauty and magnetism. On the other hand, I am preparing a solo exhibition, with a collection of collages on the feminine force in nature. This exhibition will take place at the next Nit de l'Art in September in Mallorca.

2025 Where do you see yourself?

I see myself in my art studio, lost in the mountains of Mallorca, doing what I like the most, which is art. With more complex techniques and doing more mixed media, and not so much collage. I would be excited if my work was represented by a gallery on the island.

Finish the sentence: When the going gets tough ...

I focus on all the good things I have in life. It is essential in life to be grateful for everything we have and pay attention to all those little details of the day to day.

A favorite place

Deiá, a small town lost on the Tramuntana coast in Mallorca. Specifically, being in a small cabin surrounded only by olive trees and sheep, while you sleep in front of the fireplace.

What would you do if you could change the world?

I would encourage everyone to spend time each day doing some creative activity. I firmly believe that we are all more creative than we think, and in the healing and positive power it has on humanity. Being creative encourages us to think that anything is possible, to believe in our dreams.

Penultimate question… Favorite song?

'' Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto - The Girl From Ipanema '', is able to relax and inspire me. Any song that blends jazz and bossa-nova is on my playlist.

The documentary that was made of "Van Gogh at the gate of eternity" captivated me by the determination and passion that Van Gogh had for his work, despite not obtaining any recognition in life. I remember a phrase that said something like, I know that I was born to paint and only to paint, I am not worth anything else.
