Joaquín Hortal is a professional photographer of an artistic nature. Born in Granada but currently living in Almería, he travels through the incredible natural landscapes of the entire country to capture images that seem to come from another planet. An adventurer of the unknown who provides truly overwhelming images of what is around us.

Hi Joaquin, Who you are? How would you define yourself?

My name is Joaquín and I would define myself as a restless person with artistic concerns.

Where were you born? Are you still living there?

I was born in Zujar (Granada) but now I live in Almería.

When did the world of photography start to interest you?

The truth is that it was late, but it came into my life strong and now I can't imagine a life without photography.

How would you define your style in a sentence?

Artistic nature.

Your weaknesses? Your strengths?

I am an impatient person and my greatest strength without a doubt is that I have a lot of perseverance in what I propose.

What would you say makes you different?

A very defined and recognizable style, almost always linked to abstract painting, which attracts me a lot.

What do you find most fascinating about creativity?

That whenever you create something ... it is totally different from the rest.

Which of your works do you have a special affection?

I have a special affection for all of them. I could not opt for any of them because I put the 100% of my energy to all of them to create something unique and different.

Who or what inspires you when creating?

I am usually inspired by the abstract painters of the 20th century.

Do you have a new project or idea in hand?

I always have something on my hands, but little by little they will come to light ... for now I prefer to keep them to myself.

2025 Where do you see yourself?

I hope that in Almería, with my family and loved ones and being able to dedicate myself to this at 100% since it is my passion.

Close to my family but for my type of photography, paradise is this place I go to often, Río Tinto.

What would you do if you could change the world?

It would eradicate hunger from the third world.

Penultimate question… Favorite song?

I have a slightly different style of music. I listen to a lot of hardcore machine or electronic music.
