SHATHA AL DAFAI

The single stroke

Shatha al dafai is a self-taught Omani artist. After completing her engineering degree, Shatha invested her time in creating a line of art that is inspired by faces and feelings, with the goal of representing life's complications through a single line. He found a kind of freedom to create different faces without lifting the pen. Being open to different art forms allowed her to have a broad perspective, which helped her create unique works of art and have her own style.

Personal Profile

References

From Picasso to Basquiat. Its references are artists who have treated and dedicated part of their work to almost indecipherable faces, with a very particular style.

Technique

Shatha's technique focuses on the figurative drawing of a single line, with a minimalist style and sketched by hand to later translate his work into a highly visual graphic design.

We like it for ...

His skill at dealing with space on paper and his powerful games of contrasts. His seamless lines with an implicit sense of design make his works a real pleasure to behold.

A curiosity

Did you know that Shatha is a self-taught artist? Still, although his studies were focused on engineering, his art attracted international attention, soon being represented by the Uncommon Beauty Gallery in New York and the Edition Madder in France / London.
