Flowers in June is part of a series of drawings by British artist Kate Emily Cooke that explores the natural surroundings near her home. The vibrant colors and flowing lines capture the movement of the water and evoke the memory of summers spent by the sea.
Drawing is my first love and it is at the heart of what I do. I am fascinated by the way the eye sees, the mind interprets and the hand expresses. Minimal markings and a limited color palette are deliberate moves to strip things of their essence and communicate the subject in the purest way possible.
