Cleaning it well is just as important as hanging a painting correctly. Just as you wouldn't clean a wild silk dress the same way as a cotton T-shirt, you shouldn't clean all paintings the same way. Cleaning the glass of a painting:
Option 1:
- Remove dust with a feather duster.
- Dip a clean cloth in hot water, then dip it in alcohol. Wring out the cloth until it is completely wrung out.
- Gently clean the glass with the help of the cloth.
- Immediately afterwards pass a dry chamois and pass it over the glass until you get the perfect finish .
Option 2:
- Use a feather duster to remove dust .
- Spray a little glass cleaner on a cloth or rag.
- Gently clean the glass.
- With a dry chamois, go over the surface of the glass.
Clean frames in gold Print or gold:
- Remove dust with the help of a duster.
- Create a weak solution of ammonia and water (a few drops of ammonia dissolved in a large amount of water).
- Clean the frame with a cloth slightly moistened with this solution.
- Leave to act for a few moments so that the dirt softens, and repeat the operation.
- Gently rub dry with a soft, dry chamois.
Cleaning wooden frames:
- Remove dust with a feather duster.
- Create a mixture of water with a diluted mild soap.
- Dip a clean cloth and wring out completely.
- Clean the frame gently.
- Dry with a soft, dry cloth.
- For a perfect finish , a very thin layer of colorless wax can be applied with the help of a small brush and go over with a sponge so that a natural shine remains (except in the case of lacquered wood).
Cleaning metal/plastic frames:
- Remove dust with the help of a duster.
- Dip a clean cloth in clean water, and wring out completely.
- Gently clean the frame .
- Dry with a clean, dry chamois.
