She watched her mother paint and knew that she wanted to paint. She watched Disney movies and understood that she liked to paint. She met her biological father, a police officer, when he stopped her mother for a traffic violation and she didn't think twice: she needed to paint.

The inspiration for his own style came from watching South Park and listening to hip-hop. A multicoloured and non-stop information overload in which everything from rebellious politics to non-normative naked bodies, and from LGBT relationships to police violence of #BlackLivesMatter come together.

Chanel Abney uses her art to praise the ultra-contemporary, the daily life of a society “channelled through the speed of the Internet”. For this reason, her particular cubism of unique tones and collages does not come from absolute planning, but from total improvisation.
