Alexander is a Swedish illustrator and pattern designer. He studied pattern design and painting, after which he decided to pursue illustration and design. He works mainly from home, in his small office in Stockholm, which used to be a closet. People often say it looks small and cluttered, but fantasy thrives in a room without windows.

Alexander has a very refined control of the technique in different styles, which makes him a very versatile artist and inseperate. If you add to this the dystopian surrealism that he adds to his works, you begin the journey to an illustrative world different from the rest.

References

Alexander admits that there are not many artists or painters he draws inspiration from when painting or drawing, but some of his favorites are: Olle Skagerfors, Jane Bark and Jenny Saville.

Technique

Alexander uses both analog material and digital techniques, and sometimes combines both. Most of the time he works in many layers with gouache/aquarelle and pencils. For tracing he uses ink and graphite, and when it comes to painting on canvas he prefers oil.
