Alisa Galitsyna is a self-taught Ukrainian artist living in Spain. Her inspiration comes from nature, everyday life, travel, textiles and interior spaces. As a Mixed-media artist, she uses a combination of different techniques and themes, creating abstract artworks, patterns and collages using a variety of textures and colour combinations.

Art as such is my reference, from painting and architecture to interior design and photography. I find inspiration in everyday details, such as the design of a tile or the ornamentation of a street lamp, as well as in T-shirt prints or any other visual element I find in my environment. Every day gives reasons to be inspired by small details.

References

She would mention the work of Henri Matisse and his ability to create simple but vibrant compositions using figures cut out of brightly coloured paper. She admires his abstract, geometric and organic forms. She also finds inspiration in Vincent Van Gogh's landscapes; his expressive technique and warm, golden tones captivate her. Antoni Gaudí's architectural style also fascinates her. His imagination and his use of organic forms inspired by nature are reflected in his work, especially in his ceramic decoration and innovative use of materials.

Technique

Alisa loves to experiment with her art, often using and combining various mediums during the creative process, which is very relaxing and intuitive for her. She immerses herself in techniques such as collage, linocut, and the use of acrylic and gouache paints. She also has a deep appreciation for the fusion of traditional media with digital tools. The creative freedom she finds in experimenting with different techniques and materials is truly inspiring to her.

A curiosity

Over a weekend, her husband and Alisa escaped to a mountain flat in France, where they found a stray kitten. They decided to take her home, but first they went to a veterinary clinic to check if she had a chip - and it turned out she did! Her name was Camille. A week later they received a call from the owners, who turned out to be a French couple who had lost Camille 6 years ago! They arranged to meet the owners. In the end, despite having cared for her during this time and having grown very fond of her, they returned her. They were very sad about the separation, but at least they had a nice story to remember.
